What To Bring With You:

  • Bottle (if baby is not breast feeding)
  •  Registration form (if able to print and complete prior to appointment)

What To Remember:

  • Avoid feeding child 2 hours prior to appointment
  • Ensure to confirm your appointment to avoid any cancellations
  • Sometimes clinic may be running behind and delays may occur
  • The parenting/guardian policy that we abide by
  • Always ensure to provide your child’s name and date of birth when communicating to Western Specialist Centre via email (reception@wscvic.com)
  • Appointments are fee based, and you must finalise your account with reception before exiting the building
  • Dr Raj Khillan is an expert in this field and your child is in safe expertise hands with his care

What To Expect:

  • Hand your registration form to reception and wait for the doctor to see you; at this point you will be provided with a consent form to read. This allows time for questions when with the doctor. Before the procedure goes ahead you and the doctor will sign the consent form together authorising the procedure
  • When with the doctor he will have a consultation with you, and will assess your child
  • Upon assessment he will then move ahead with the tongue tie or lip tie procedure with your consent
  • In some cases your child may be upset, this is normal. This is not because it’s painful, it just an unfamiliar feeling for them which can make them upset
  • Once the procedure is complete you will be asked to wait for around 15minutes and give your child a feed
  • After this time, the doctor will review your child and will then discharge you from the service or ask for a routine follow-up appointment in a couple of weeks
  • You can then see reception to finalise your appointment and fees concluding the above process
  • A dictated letter is sent to your referring GP soon after the appointment when completed

  • Any results or reports from previous tests, xrays/ultrasounds done prior to appointment
  • Any letter or reports from schools, allied health services; psychology, speech therapy etc
  • Signed registration form (if able to print and complete prior to appointment)

What To Remember:

  • Scripts cannot be provided unless you have a face to face or phone consult appointment with the paediatrician. Note: phone consult appointments are only permitted whilst DHHS authorise it during the COVID pandemic for the state of Victoria

  • Hand your signed paperwork to reception and wait for the doctor to see you
  • When with the doctor he/she will have a consultation with you, and will assess your child
  • Upon assessment he/she will then advise next steps
  • You can then see reception to finalise your appointment and re-book any follow-ups as necessary
  • A dictated letter is sent to your referring GP soon after the appointment when completed

Please Note For Behavioural Appointments:

  • The paediatricians cannot diagnose your child with certain conditions (ASD, ADHD) without assessment with allied health services (psychology, speech therapy etc)
  • There are additional processes required for some of these appointments which require:
    • You to fill out behavioural/developmental questionnaire forms
    • Your child’s teacher to fill out behavioural/developmental questionnaire forms
    • Have your child assessed with Allied Health services (as mentioned above)
      • If this is the case. Please advise the paediatrics team via email the allied health physician that you have chosen, so that the referral letter can be developed and released to you

  • Sometimes achieving a confirmed diagnoses for your child can be anywhere between 6-12 weeks pending appointment availability with all required physicians
  • NDIS forms, support letters or carer allowances cannot be completed at the time of presenting them to the paediatrician. These need to be booked a separate appointment for completion and release
