More About Me:
Emily Kumpis is a psychologist and utilises an empathetic-focussed approach whilst aiming to empower clients to apply psychological strategies beyond the therapy room.
Emily takes a varied therapy approach, applying strategies from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, solution-focused counselling (SFT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT). Each treatment plan is always designed accordingly to the unique needs of the client, their personal goals and situation.
She is skilled in assessing psychological functioning, including the use of standardised measures such as the Wechsler Intelligence Schedule for Children/Adults and personality assessments.
Why I Love Being A Psychologist
Emily has a strong desire to help others and support them in understanding themselves at a deeper level. Emily has strong values in being able to validate others’ emotions and creating a safe space for someone to unpack their trauma with non-judgement and useful support. Emily’s interest in the perinatal field guides future motivations to provide better accessible psychoeducation on the importance of mental health whilst being a parent as well as supporting and advocating for strong and secure attachments between parents and their children.
